Fund Scholarships for underserved youth to attend summer camp

TSECC: Penn Valley SDA Church

The ministry of respite has been a community service project of the Penn Valley SDA Church since 2007. In our small church, we depend on funding from other organizations to provide this unique ministry that caregivers depend on. Many find it difficult to understand a caregiver’s depth of desperation when society offers few options, yet those who live at the deepest levels of poverty seldom have a choice and are at the highest risk of premature institutionalization. Many simply give up from depression, declining health, or overwhelming anxiety experienced from isolation. We provide dependent adults and seniors with a stimulating social environment, which gives caregivers a much-needed break. Participants have improved quality of daily living through socialization and peer relationships, quality entertainment, and purposeful activities.
