The Unforgettables Foundation

The mission of The Unforgettables Foundation is to assist at risk and grieving families with finances to help them afford a timely and dignified funeral for their child

Summary: Request funds The Unforgettables’ service to the Southern California Inland Empire and assist in opening new chapters across North America

The Unforgettables Foundation has almost 20 years of sustained service in our community, and Versacare’s periodic grants have played a great roll in our providing funerals for thousands of families who have lost a child. These funerals are timely and dignified, which many families wouldn’t be able to afford. Our main goals are to 1). Find the funds to continue our local mission of serving over 200 Inland Empire families in grief each year by giving needed money for funeral funds when families have experienced the death of a child and 2). We are looking to expand to create new chapters across the United States and Canada.

Versacare is the lead partner in these efforts. We have already established chapters in Las Vegas and Ohio, and are in the process of expanding to British Columbia, Georgia, New Mexico, and other areas within California and across the United States. We have also been talking with potential start-up supporters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Michigan. We are discussing with senior management at Adventist Health West about partnering with us to reach regions such as Northern California, Central Valley, and the Greater Los Angeles area. The goal is to have 20 total chapters by 2020. Each affiliate group knows they are to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining as a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The requested funds will be used toward this expansion effort.

Friendship Camp is a very special ministry of Leoni Meadows that provides developmentally disabled campers ages 10-75 the opportunity to experience all the fun that summer camp has to offer. For the past dozen years, this program has been the highlight of the summer for many participants who come from more than eight counties in California to attend this week-long experience.
